Alexandra Kosteniuk is a Russian grandmaster, former Women’s World Chess Champion, and renowned chess player. She has achieved great success in chess, becoming one of the most celebrated female chess players in the world. Kosteniuk was born in Perm, Russia, in 1984 and began playing chess at the age of five. She was soon competing in international tournaments, and in 1992 she became the youngest ever Russian Women’s Individual Chess Champion.
